Man charged with murdering a woman in New Jersey. His wife has also gone'missing'.

Robert McCaffrey Jr., 54, has been charged with the murder of 27-year-old Lisa McBride, whose case went cold for more than 30 years before a DNA breakthrough led investigators to him.

Details of the Cold Case

McBride vanished in June 1990 from the Highland Lakes section of Vernon Township after a night out with friends. Neighbors reported seeing her return home around 2 a.m., but she failed to show up for work the next morning.

Police found her car still in the driveway, a cut outdoor phone wire, and a damaged window screen at her home. The case remained unsolved until new DNA evidence implicated McCaffrey.

Connection to Wife’s Disappearance

McCaffrey is also under suspicion in the 2012 disappearance of his wife in South Carolina, a case that remains unsolved. Authorities are investigating whether there may be further connections between the cases.

Legal Proceedings

McCaffrey has been formally charged with murder in McBride’s death. Investigations are ongoing as prosecutors build the case.
