Three firefighters sustained non-life-threatening injuries while responding to a large house fire Sunday afternoon in Indian Land, S.C., near the North Carolina border.
Incident Details
Crews were called to a home on Baker Creek Avenue, where heavy fire conditions forced a rapid evacuation. A “mayday” was declared during the response, signaling a life-threatening situation for the firefighters, but all personnel were accounted for and safe after the call was cleared.
Injuries and Recovery
The three injured firefighters were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Officials reported that all are expected to make a full recovery.
Fire Department Response
The Indian Land Fire District and Pineville Fire Department were first on the scene. Assistance was also provided by Fort Mill Fire, Charlotte Fire, and Steele Creek Fire.
