Incident Details

On May 20, 21-year-old Xavier Jeffers was shot in the head in a bedroom at 20-year-old Denajah Bailey’s home on the 400 block of West Street in Pottstown. Authorities say Bailey, Jeffers, and 20-year-old Amaury Sahad were passing around a stolen firearm when the shooting occurred.

Charges

Denajah Bailey is charged with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, possessing an instrument of crime, and recklessly endangering another person. Amaury Sahad faces charges for receiving stolen property, carrying a firearm without a license, and possessing an instrument of crime.

How It Happened

Investigators say Bailey pointed the gun at Jeffers while they were on the bed and pulled the trigger. A fourth person witnessed the incident via FaceTime. A loaded black Glock 43X, reported stolen in December 2025, was recovered from the bedroom.

Legal Proceedings

Both suspects were arraigned with bail set at $50,000 for Bailey and $20,000 for Sahad. They were ordered to have no contact with each other, witnesses, or firearms. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9.

Victim

Jeffers, from Pottstown, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Montgomery County Coroner’s Office ruled the cause of death as a gunshot wound to the head/neck and the manner of death as homicide.
