A California man has been charged in a child labor and human trafficking case involving a 14-year-old boy, according to prosecutors.

Man Accused Of Exploiting Teen

The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said 26-year-old Brandon Holguin faces multiple charges, including human trafficking, child stealing, child abuse, and furnishing a controlled substance to a minor.

Authorities said Holguin allegedly targeted the boy at a thrift store months before the incidents in May 2025.

Teen Allegedly Forced To Work

Prosecutors said Holguin took the teen to a motel in Los Angeles and forced him to sort and photograph used clothing for online sales for long hours.

Investigators alleged Holguin gave the minor Adderall so he could continue working late into the night.

Authorities also said Holguin kept the teen’s cellphone, later sold it, and used a fake ID to pawn the victim’s jewelry.

Boy Left Near Freeway

According to prosecutors, Holguin later abandoned the teen near a Los Angeles freeway during the night.

The boy reportedly reached a nearby business, where employees called 911. Police later reunited him with his family.

Suspect In Custody

Holguin was arrested on May 9 and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Officials said he is being held on more than $650,000 bond at the North County Correctional Facility.
