COLUMBIA, S.C. — A Richland School District 1 teacher was arrested in connection with a runaway juvenile, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Arrest and Charges

Yshay Fuller, 33, a teacher at Caughman Road Elementary School, was taken into custody after deputies responded to a call on May 10 regarding a runaway juvenile at her residence. Officials said Fuller was “not forthcoming” about the juvenile’s whereabouts.

On May 19, Fuller was charged with:

  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor
  • Obstructing justice
  • Neglect by a legal guardian

She was booked into the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and released on a $20,000 bond.

School District Response

A Richland 1 spokesperson confirmed the arrest and stated that families at Caughman Road Elementary were notified. The district emphasized that the alleged crimes are not related to Fuller’s professional duties at the school.
