A tragic and deeply disturbing incident in Burbank has left a family shattered after a mother was killed and her daughter seriously injured in a brutal stabbing inside their home.
Deadly Attack Inside Family Home
According to the Burbank Police Department, officers responded early Monday morning to a home on North Brighton Street after reports of a stabbing.
Inside, they found:
- Arti Varma, 59, with severe injuries
- Her daughter, Meera Varma, 25, also wounded
Both were rushed to the hospital, but Arti later died despite efforts to save her. Meera remains hospitalised and is in stable condition.

Police have arrested Sergio Fraire, 30, in connection with the attack.
