A shocking incident in Murray, Kentucky has raised serious concerns about public safety after a violent attack took place inside a retail store. A woman is now facing multiple charges after allegedly chasing and stabbing a customer in broad daylight.
What Happened at the Store
According to the Murray Police Department, the incident occurred on April 21 at a Goodwill store on North 12th Street.
A woman was shopping when 30-year-old Madison Hinchey reportedly entered the store shouting loudly. Without warning, she allegedly targeted the shopper and began chasing her through the store.
Attack Inside the Building
Police say the situation quickly turned violent. Hinchey allegedly pulled a knife from her bag and chased the victim across the store.
The chase ended near the loading dock area, where:
- The victim was stabbed in the chest
- She was also reportedly bitten during the attack
The sudden violence created panic among customers and staff present at the time.
Employee Injured While Helping
When a store employee tried to step in and stop the attack, they were also assaulted. Reports say Hinchey grabbed a metal snow shovel and used it to hit the employee.
This shows how the situation escalated further, putting multiple people at risk.
Police Response and Arrest
Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports of a stabbing. When they entered the store, they found employees struggling to control the suspect.
Two victims were identified:

Hinchey has been charged with attempted murder, second-degree assault, and fourth-degree assault. She is currently being held in jail without bond.
