A preschool teacher in Texas was arrested after allegedly pointing a gun at another driver during a road-rage incident on Wednesday.

Incident Details

Latashia Deshawn Walker-County, 51, reportedly pulled out a firearm during a confrontation with another female driver in Bexar County, Texas. The victim reported the matter to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators quickly found Walker-County, who reportedly admitted to brandishing the gun during the argument.

Legal Action

Walker-County has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. She was released on a $50,000 bond.

About the Teacher

Walker-County worked as a pre-kindergarten teacher at the Essence Preparatory Public School in San Antonio, Texas. This tuition-free public charter school is set to close at the end of this academic year, only four years after opening. The Texas Education Agency decided not to renew the school’s charter due to three consecutive years of low academic performance.

About the School

Essence Preparatory Public School catered to students from pre-kindergarten to eighth grade. The school aimed to support black and brown children and tried to show that home area should not limit educational success.

Social Media Reaction

After her release and facing unemployment, Walker-County shared posts on social media thanking God “for what didn’t happen” and encouraged focusing on “cleaning up your spirit” rather than worrying about one’s public image.
