A Washington state man who initially claimed a home intruder killed his wife has now been arrested after investigators said evidence pointed back to him.
Woman Found Dead Inside Home
According to the King County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a home in Covington on May 1 after Kyle Cathcart called 911 reporting a home invasion.
Police found Jodi Cathcart dead from multiple stab wounds inside the home. Kyle Cathcart had minor injuries and told investigators he fought off an intruder.
Ring Camera Raised Questions
Investigators reviewed Ring camera footage from the home and said no one was seen entering the property around the time of the killing.
Police said the footage only showed a person leaving the house wearing a black hoodie turned inside out.
During the investigation, officers later found a black hoodie with blood on it near a neighbor’s property. Authorities said the hoodie belonged to Jodi Cathcart.
Police Say Husband Confessed
According to court documents, Kyle Cathcart later admitted to investigators that he planned to kill his wife and staged the scene to look like a home invasion.
Police said he also admitted to wearing his wife’s hoodie and creating fake evidence before calling 911.
Authorities arrested him on suspicion of first-degree murder. Prosecutors are still reviewing the case and formal charges have not yet been filed.
