A tragic domestic incident in Escambia County has left a family devastated after a woman was shot and killed inside her home following a small argument.
What Happened
According to the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call on Sunday morning about a shooting at a home on Gulf Breeze Avenue.
When officers arrived:
- They found James Pelzer, 64, outside the home
- He reportedly admitted wrongdoing at the scene
- Inside, they discovered Alanda Cuffee, 39, unresponsive
She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Argument Before the Shooting
Investigators say the incident began with a minor disagreement in the kitchen.
According to reports:
- Pelzer tried to move past Cuffee
- She responded that he could say “excuse me”
- Without further argument, he left the room
Moments later, he returned with a firearm.
Fatal Shooting
Authorities allege that:
- Pelzer came back with a handgun
- He fired multiple shots at Cuffee without warning
- He then told his wife to remain quiet as she reacted to the situation
The weapon was later found inside the home.
