A South Carolina man accused of shooting his former girlfriend in Maryland was later found dead in South Carolina, according to authorities.

Woman Critically Injured in Shooting

Police in Prince George’s County, Maryland, responded to a reported domestic-related shooting on Birdie Lane in Upper Marlboro around 7:15 a.m. Tuesday.

Officers found a woman outside suffering from gunshot wounds. She was transported to a hospital and remains in critical condition.

Suspect Identified

Investigators identified the suspect as 30-year-old Dante Morris of Fort Mill, South Carolina.

Authorities said Morris and the victim had previously been in a relationship.

An arrest warrant was issued for Morris following the shooting.

Later Tuesday evening, authorities confirmed that Morris was found dead in South Carolina.
