A truck driver was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer early Wednesday morning in Laurens County, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
Fatal Crash on Interstate 26
Troopers said the crash happened around 3:49 a.m. on Interstate 26 near mile marker 49.
According to investigators, a Freightliner tractor-trailer was traveling westbound when it ran off the right side of the roadway and overturned.
Driver Pronounced Dead at Scene
The driver suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.
Investigation Continues
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the circumstances that led to the crash.
No other vehicles were reported to be involved.
Walmart Issues Statement
Following the incident, Walmart released a statement expressing condolences.
“We’re heartbroken by what’s happened. Our thoughts are with our associate’s family. We’re working with local law enforcement as they continue investigating,” the company said.
