Drivers in the Hollywood area of South Carolina should prepare for a long-term road closure as a bridge replacement project gets underway.
Toogoodoo Road Bridge Closes for Replacement
The South Carolina Department of Transportation has begun a yearlong closure of the Toogoodoo Road bridge over Swinton Creek.
The closure started Tuesday and is expected to remain in place until June 2027 while crews replace the bridge.
Detour Route in Place
During construction, drivers will be directed along a detour route using Highway 162, Chapel Road and Toogoodoo Road.
Transportation officials are advising motorists to allow extra travel time and follow posted detour signs.
Safety Reminder
SCDOT is asking drivers to slow down and stay alert for construction crews and changing traffic patterns in the area throughout the project.
