Pendleton gives grief counselors following the death of a student in a traffic accident

A Pendleton High School student died in a car accident in Anderson County on May 25.

Accident Details
Anderson County 911 received a call just before 12:30 a.m. for a single-car crash on Five Forks Road in Pendleton. The car went off the road and hit a tree.

Victim Information
16-year-old Spencer James Martin, a front-seat passenger, died from multiple traumatic injuries. Two other people were injured and taken to the hospital. The death was ruled accidental.

Investigation
The Anderson County Coroner’s Office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are investigating the crash.

School Response
Pendleton High School and Anderson School District 4 expressed condolences and offered support to students and staff. Grief counselors were available on May 26, and students could leave messages and banners for the affected families.
