A 15-year-old boy from Aiken, Axel K. Ulteig, died following a two-vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Aiken County Coroner’s Office, Ulteig was a passenger in a 2026 Polaris utility vehicle that was crossing Atomic Road at South Hankinson Street around 5:45 p.m. when it collided with a 2020 Nissan Sentra traveling east on Atomic Road.
Emergency responders pronounced Ulteig deceased at the scene at 6:05 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted in Newberry.
The coroner’s office and the South Carolina Highway Patrol are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash.
