Police in Hanahan, South Carolina, said extra law enforcement officers will be present near Berkeley County schools after a bomb threat at Hanahan High School was determined to be a hoax.
Bomb Threat Investigated at Hanahan High School
Authorities responded Tuesday around 11:54 a.m. after receiving a phone threat directed at Hanahan High School.
Law enforcement searched the area and continued investigating throughout the afternoon before confirming that no dangerous items were found.
Extra Police Presence Expected
Following the incident, Hanahan police announced that additional officers would be stationed near schools across the Berkeley County School District.
Officials said protecting students, staff, residents, and visitors remains a top priority.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Police said the investigation remains active and no suspects have been identified so far.
Authorities also warned that making false threats carries serious consequences and said they are committed to identifying those responsible.
