A Florida couple has been charged after police said they attacked a mother in a parking lot following an argument about how she disciplined her child.

Couple Accused Of Assault

According to the Davie Police Department, Mary Williams and Terry Williams were arrested after the incident in Davie.

Police said the confrontation started after the mother disciplined her young son, who had allegedly spit in her face.

Argument Turned Physical

Investigators said Terry Williams approached the woman and claimed she should not yell at or hit her child. The victim told police she asked him to leave her alone.

Authorities said Mary Williams later approached the woman, blocked her from getting into her vehicle, and the argument became physical.

According to the arrest report, Mary Williams allegedly scratched and choked the victim, while Terry Williams allegedly grabbed the woman by her shirt and hair.

Police said the woman’s shirt was ripped off during the struggle, leaving her standing in public wearing only a bra.

Victim Suffered Injuries

Officers reported finding scratches on the woman’s neck and injuries to her lip.

Police also said Mary Williams allegedly entered the victim’s vehicle and took her keys during the incident.

Charges Filed

Mary Williams faces charges including battery causing bodily harm and burglary of a conveyance. Terry Williams is charged with battery.

Authorities said both suspects were released from jail on bond.
