A Berkeley County man has been sentenced to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to the murder of his wife, a 24-year-old U.S. Marine, just moments before his murder trial was set to begin.

Plea and Sentencing

Trivelle Fowler, 38, entered a guilty plea to charges of murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. The plea came just minutes before the state was prepared to deliver opening statements in his trial. On Thursday, Judge Christopher D. Taylor imposed the 45-year sentence.

Solicitor Scarlett A. Wilson commended the Moncks Corner Police Department for their thorough investigation, stating that this case is another example of “unhinged domestic violence.”

The Murder of Adiarylis Cintron Fowler

The crime took place on May 27, 2023, when Fowler shot and killed his wife, Adiarylis Cintron Fowler, at her home in Moncks Corner. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering gunshot wounds to her back and neck.

The couple had been married for about two years, but prosecutors revealed that Adiarylis had separated from her husband earlier that month. She had moved into a new home with her three children, and despite her resistance, Fowler had repeatedly attempted to reconcile with her.

Details of the Crime

Fowler went to his wife’s home on the day of the killing under the pretense of wishing her a happy birthday and taking her to lunch. Cellphone records showed him arriving and leaving the house multiple times that day. Evidence suggested that after the shooting, the victim’s body was dragged toward the back door, and towels were used in an attempt to clean up the blood and cover the body.

Fowler later admitted to law enforcement that the couple had argued after he discovered his wife was moving on and seeing other men. He confessed to dragging her body and attempting to clean the crime scene before leaving the home.

Investigation and Evidence

Witness statements and surveillance footage from a neighbor placed Fowler at the scene that day. Additionally, cellphone location data, DNA evidence, and gunshot residue were used to confirm his involvement in the murder.

The case was prosecuted by special counsel Kamila Szymczynska-Sas from the Special Victims’ Unit, along with Managing Assistant Solicitor Kawohi Morris. Szymczynska-Sas expressed gratitude for Detective Ashley Scarborough’s investigation and thanked the victim’s family for their patience throughout the legal process.
