SPARTANBURG, SC — A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a man at a Spartanburg convenience store early Sunday morning, according to the Spartanburg Police Department.

Incident Details

Officers responded to a disturbance call at the Hot Spot Convenience Store on East Henry Street around 4:50 a.m. Upon arrival, police found a man lying in the parking lot with injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Domestic Dispute and Arrest

Investigators determined that the victim had been involved in a domestic-related dispute with the driver of the vehicle. Police identified the driver as La’kesha Jeffery Mathis and said she intentionally struck the man with her car.

Mathis was arrested and booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. The Spartanburg Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward and contact them.
