Donevyn Bowie, 25, was sentenced to 38 years in prison after pleading no contest in connection with the shooting death of his girlfriend, 21-year-old Shamiah Allen. The shooting occurred during a heated argument over financial issues on December 15, 2023, at the Ridgeline at Rogers Ranch Apartments in San Antonio, Texas.

The Shooting and Investigation

According to the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office, Bowie and Allen got into a confrontation in their apartment over finances. During the argument, Bowie shot Allen twice in the head while she was in a bathtub. Afterward, Bowie called 911, admitted to shooting Allen, and claimed the shooting was an accident.

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Allen’s death, and Bowie was subsequently arrested. Despite claiming the shooting was accidental, Bowie was charged with murder and later pleaded no contest to the charges.

Accountability and Domestic Violence Awareness

Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales called the incident a “senseless act of violence” and emphasized the importance of holding individuals accountable for domestic violence. He further stressed that the sentence reflects the commitment to seeking justice for victims of such violence.
