Authorities in Southern California say a man was murdered and his body left in a remote desert area before being discovered by a passerby.

Body Discovered in Wonder Valley

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, a citizen found the victim around 9:48 a.m. on April 10 along Gammel Road in Wonder Valley.

Officials said the man was discovered partially sitting in a wheelchair that had tipped over. Deputies who arrived at the scene confirmed he was deceased.

Investigation Reveals Homicide

Detectives with the department’s Homicide Detail observed signs of trauma and determined the man had been killed elsewhere before his body was dumped at the location.

The victim was identified as a 60-year-old man from Highland, California, though his name has not yet been released pending notification of family.

Suspect Identified and Arrested

Investigators identified Jimmy Rodriguez, 38, of Moreno Valley, as a suspect in the case.

Authorities believe Rodriguez and the victim were involved in a physical altercation in Highland that led to the man’s death.

Body Allegedly Dumped After Killing

Following the incident, Rodriguez allegedly transported the victim’s body to Wonder Valley and left it on the roadside.

He was arrested and charged with murder and is currently being held without bail at a local detention facility.

Investigation Ongoing

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the case and is asking anyone with information to come forward.
