A domestic dispute in Washington state turned deadly when a man shot two female relatives before being fatally shot by a neighbor who intervened, according to police.
Family Dispute Turns Violent
Officers with the Puyallup Police Department responded to a home around 9:10 a.m. on April 2 following reports of a family disturbance.
Authorities say the conflict began inside the residence but quickly escalated and moved outside, ending in a neighbor’s driveway and garage.
Police said an adult male family member, armed with a handgun, shot two adult female relatives during the incident.
Neighbor Intervenes
According to investigators, the neighbor was inside their home when the situation spilled onto their property.
The neighbor then came outside and intervened, fatally shooting the armed man after he had shot the two women.
Victims Identified
One of the women, 23-year-old Christiannel Maningat, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The suspect has been identified as 47-year-old Arnino Velasco Guanlao.
Authorities are still working to confirm the exact relationship between Guanlao and the victims, including whether he was their father or stepfather.
Family and Community Response
Loved ones described Maningat as a kind and compassionate person who made others feel valued.
In a message shared through a fundraiser, family members said the victims’ mother is now grieving the loss of one daughter while remaining at the bedside of another who is critically injured.
Investigation Ongoing
Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting.
The case remains under investigation as authorities continue to gather details about what led to the violence.
