Two people were detained on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina, after fleeing from a traffic stop on Saturday, according to Police Chief Glenn Meadows.
What led to the arrests
- Officers with the Sullivan’s Island Police Department observed a pickup truck driving “in a reckless manner” and tried to pull it over, but the driver refused to stop and instead fled on foot with a passenger.
- The passenger was apprehended outside Poe’s Tavern, while the driver was later taken into custody following a K‑9 search of the area.
Ongoing investigation
- The police department said its investigation is still ongoing and that charges are likely to be filed against both individuals; no officers or bystanders were injured in the incident.
