A 19-year-old West Virginia woman, Claudia Torres, faces first-degree murder charges for allegedly shooting her 28-year-old friend Austin Lamb three times after claiming he groped her.
Shooting Details
On February 28, 2026, after midnight, Parkersburg police found Lamb dead on a couch from multiple gunshot wounds at a residence. Torres called 911 herself, stating the man she thought was her friend tried to grope her, so she shot him; she repeated this to officers during transport.
Witness Accounts
Two witnesses who went bar-hopping with Torres and Lamb that night reported an argument en route home. Torres stormed inside from her truck, fired several shots at Lamb, then one more outside before fleeing in her purple Dodge Ram—surveillance and bystanders corroborated, including her saying, “That’s what you get for messing with me.”
Arrest and Court
Police detained Torres without incident at a nearby gas station about a mile away. She appeared in court March 4, ordered held without bond; her next hearing is today, March 10.
