A 67-year-old Kentucky man, Richard Chesher, faces murder charges after allegedly beating his wife Bonnie so severely she was unrecognizable, then attempting to dispose of her body.

Incident Details
Mount Washington Police responded to Chesher’s home on Williamsburg Court around 9 p.m. on March 6, 2026, finding him blood-soaked in the garage next to Bonnie’s battered body, wrapped in a garden hose. A blood trail led from the house to the garage, where officers recovered a bloodied club-like wooden plank believed to be the murder weapon; a pickup truck was backed up with a makeshift ramp to load the body.

Arrest and Charges
Chesher tried closing the garage door on arriving police but was detained without resistance. He’s charged with murder (domestic violence), tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse at Bullitt County Detention Center. Bail was set at $1 million cash during his Monday court appearance, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 17.

Neighborhood Reaction
Neighbors in the quiet Mt. Washington area expressed shock, noting Chesher seemed friendly; one Ring camera captured the couple picking up a DoorDash order just days earlier.
