Adrienne Reid, 33, faces capital murder and abuse of a corpse charges for allegedly killing her 2-year-old daughter, Genesis Reid, on Christmas Day 2025 and disposing of her body in a dumpster. Authorities announced the charges on March 9, 2026—Genesis’s would-be third birthday—after video evidence showed Reid with a duffel bag near the dumpster.
Investigation Timeline
Genesis was reported missing from her Enterprise, Alabama apartment on February 16, 2026, around 3 a.m., with Reid claiming the front door was open. Police quickly noted inconsistencies, leading to Reid’s arrest for false reporting; evidence later confirmed Genesis hadn’t been seen since Christmas. Neighbor footage captured Reid at the dumpster on December 25 at 11:30 p.m., returning two days later with Genesis’s toys.
Search and Prosecution Plans
Investigators are searching the Coffee County Landfill, tracking trash routes from December 26; the process involves multiple compactions and could take up to 10 weeks. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children is aiding efforts. District Attorney James Tarbox plans to seek the death penalty, citing Reid’s 53-day deception. Reid’s initial court appearance was set for later that week.
