President Trump attended a dignified transfer ceremony on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for six U.S. service members killed early in the war with Iran.
Fallen Service Members
The Department of Defense identified them as Capt. Cody A. Khork (35), Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens (42), Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor (39), Sgt. Declan J. Coady (20), Maj. Jeffrey O’Brien (45), and Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan (54), all from the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa, providing logistics support.
Ceremony Details
Trump, joined by First Lady Melania Trump, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, and Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff, honored the remains arriving from a March 1 unmanned aircraft system attack in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait. He called it a “tough situation” with “great heroes,” noting the war’s challenges while describing progress as “unbelievably” good.
Trump’s Remarks
Speaking to reporters on Air Force One afterward, Trump said he’d hate more such visits but acknowledged it as “the sad part of war.” Earlier in Miami, he termed their return a “very sad situation” but affirmed their heroic legacy.
