Utah authorities charged 22-year-old Ivan Miller from Blakesburg, Iowa, with three counts of aggravated murder for the deaths of aunt Linda Dewey (65), niece Natalie Graves (34), and unrelated Margaret Oldroyd (86) in south-central Utah earlier this week.
The Killings
Miller confessed to random slayings for cash/vehicles after an elk crash left him stranded: Shot Oldroyd in her Lyman home while she watched TV, stole her Buick (ditched it later). Spotted Dewey/Graves at a trailhead near Capitol Reef National Park, shot/stabbed them, hid bodies in a creek bed, fled in their Subaru.
Husbands found the hikers’ bodies; vehicle tracked via app across AZ/CO to Pagosa Springs, where Miller was nabbed.
Family Grief
Spokesperson: Women were “bonding over the beauty of a hike” in a “safe sanctuary”; Dewey “heart of our family,” Graves “joy embodied.” Miller’s public defender: Client won’t speak.
Senseless road rage turned triple homicide—stranger danger shatters rural peace. Agonizing loss.
