Derrion Taylor, now 19, faces first-degree murder and other felony charges in adult court for the Jan. 17, 2024, shooting death of 93-year-old Geraldine Harris and critical wounding of two other women at a Memphis home on Kendale Avenue.
The Shooting
Taylor, 17 at the time, allegedly opened fire over a dispute with at least one victim—collateral tragedy for Harris, a retired teacher/church volunteer/Meals on Wheels hero who taught inmates post-retirement. Rep. Antonio Parkinson called it “nonsense” claiming an innocent matriarch.
Arrest and Charges
Tracked via investigation; U.S. Marshals raided a Colony Drive home July 24, 2025. Juvenile case transferred to adult court Thursday; $1M bond. DA Steve Mulroy: “Deeply disturbing,” vowing justice for Harris’ family.
Heroic educator’s life cut short by teen feud—senseless. Bond hearing soon.
