Kouri Richins, a 35-year-old Utah mother of three and children’s book author, is on trial for aggravated murder in the 2022 death of her husband, Eric Richins. Prosecutors allege she poisoned his Moscow mule drink with five times a lethal dose of fentanyl, motivated by over $1.8 million in debts from her real estate business and expectations from his life insurance policies.
Ex-Boyfriend’s Testimony
On March 4, 2026, Robert Josh Grossman, Richins’ ex-boyfriend and a U.S. military veteran, testified emotionally at the Summit County Courthouse in Park City, Utah. Text messages shown included Richins asking if he’d marry her if divorced, him affirming his love, and her wishing Eric would “just go away” for a perfect life together.
Relationship Details
Grossman began a romantic relationship with Richins in early 2020 after moving to Utah for a job with her; she let him stay at a house she was flipping. Post-Eric’s death, they had a heavy talk where she asked if he’d killed anyone in Iraq and how it felt; he described her as unusually open. They split months later; Grossman initially didn’t suspect her involvement but felt guilt and sorrow after her arrest over his infidelity.
