Ateariny Boyd, 20, has been arrested on multiple charges after allegedly attempting to kill her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend in South Memphis. Boyd is facing two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of employing a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony, vandalism causing significant damage, and violating bail. The incident occurred on February 18, 2025, on Driver Street when Boyd confronted the victims after finding her ex with another woman.
Details of the Shooting and Pursuit
According to the police report, Boyd arrived at her ex-boyfriend’s house around 6 a.m., banging on the windows and yelling at the couple. After damaging the car’s windshield and slashing its tires, Boyd allegedly followed the victims as they fled in a Volkswagen Jetta. During the chase, Boyd pulled up beside the car and fired several shots, striking the rear of the vehicle. The victim managed to escape the driver’s seat just before the car crashed into a wooden pole. The estimated damage to the Jetta was around $2,500.
Arrest and Charges
Boyd was later identified by the male victim in a lineup, and she was arrested on February 25, 2025. She is currently being held in the Shelby County Jail with a $310,000 bond. Boyd’s next court appearance is scheduled for March 13, 2025. The case has drawn attention due to the violent nature of the incident, and Boyd faces significant charges for her actions.
