While the other vehicles involved stayed at the scene, the box truck driver fled, prompting a plea from the Hernandez family for the public’s help in locating the driver.
Hernandez Family Shares Heartbreak Over Loss
In an emotional interview, Hernandez’s family spoke about their grief. His daughter, Marissa Hernandez, shared that her father had been excited to ride again after a long break. She recalled how her grandmother, expecting her usual call from Perry, became worried when it didn’t come. After seeing news coverage of the crash, the family’s worst fears were confirmed. Hernandez’s son, Perry Hernandez Jr., expressed his anger and sadness over the truck driver’s decision to leave the scene, saying it was incomprehensible and cruel.
Call for Justice and Public Assistance
The Hernandez family, deeply affected by the loss, is now asking for justice and help from the community to find the truck driver. Marissa Hernandez poignantly remarked that her father had a family who loved him, and the driver’s actions were unforgivable. The family’s attorney, Vahagn Koshkaryan, warned that both the driver and the company that may own the box truck could face criminal charges if they do not come forward. The California Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the incident, but no arrests have been made as of yet.
