Days after their fifth wedding anniversary, a man accused of killing his ex-wife and dentist husband in Ohio is said to have done so.

Spencer and Monique Tepe, a Columbus, Ohio couple, were found shot to death in their Weinland Park home on December 30, 2025, just weeks after celebrating their fifth wedding anniversary. The 37-year-old dentist and his 39-year-old wife were discovered during a welfare check prompted by Spencer’s absence from work at Athens Dental Depot.

Suspect Arrest

Michael David McKee, 39, Monique’s ex-husband from a marriage that ended in 2017, was arrested in Rockford, Illinois, on January 10, 2026, and charged with two counts of murder. Police tracked his vehicle via neighborhood surveillance footage near the crime scene, linking it to the time of the killings estimated between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Victims’ Family

Their two young children, ages 1 and 4, were found unharmed in the home and are now with extended family, who report the children remain unaware of the tragedy. A joint funeral occurred on January 11, 2026, at Schoedinger Northwest chapel.

Investigation Details

An initial welfare check went to the wrong address, delaying discovery until a friend reported seeing Spencer’s body through a window while hearing the children crying. The family expressed gratitude for police efforts, calling the arrest a step toward justice.
