A 44-year-old Canadian tourist was stabbed in the leg in an unprovoked attack near New York City’s Bryant Park on December 29, 2025, around 5:30 p.m. while bending down to tie his shoe at West 40th Street and 6th Avenue. He felt sudden pain but only realized the injury upon seeing blood in a nearby store; he was rushed to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition and expected to recover.​

Incident Circumstances

The victim had been visiting the park’s popular Winter Village holiday market and did not see the attacker, who remains at large with no arrests or suspect description publicly available as of December 30. NYPD sources described the stabbing as random, with police seeking tips via Crime Stoppers.​

Investigation Status
