Police responded to a 911 assault call around 1:30-1:37 p.m. at 108-33 157th Street, discovering the child unresponsive and a 28-year-old woman with slash wounds to her wrists. Both were rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead and the woman remained in stable condition.
Investigation Status
The baby showed no stab wounds or blunt force trauma, and the blood on him likely came from his mother, confirmed as the 28-year-old woman. New York City’s Chief Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death via autopsy, with no arrests reported as of late Monday. Some reports indicate the mother is now in custody, though charges remain unclear.
