Florence County Fire Rescue responded to a structure and grass fire in the Howe Springs and Effingham area on Saturday, December 27, 2025, containing it before it spread further.​
Incident Details
Crews were dispatched after reports of heavy black smoke near Irby Street and Effingham Highway, quickly upgrading to a working fire at a storage building. They successfully limited damage to one outbuilding, a wooden fence, and about one acre of grass, with no injuries reported.​
Investigation
