The altercation occurred around 3:30 p.m. when the dogs began fighting; Stalcup first shot Jesse, then fired at Terry Loden as he intervened, striking him in the right side. Loden died en route to the hospital despite his wife Cheryle’s desperate 911 call from the scene, where the couple—married 50 years—had been walking their dogs as usual.
Eyewitness Account
Cheryle Loden recounted Stalcup pulling her husband off his dog before shooting, with Terry questioning the act just before being gunned down. Stalcup paced briefly, told her to call 911, then fled in his SUV but was apprehended by deputies 15 minutes later while leaving the park.
Charges and Status
