Jason Joe Phillips, 46, faces first-degree murder charges for allegedly shooting his wife, Joanna Lynn Phillips, 46, in their Sissonville, West Virginia home on December 20, 2025. He called 911 around 3 a.m., admitting he shot her in the chest with a shotgun after a fight, telling deputies she had “pushed him to the limit.”

Incident Details

Deputies found Joanna dead at the scene in the kitchen; Jason surrendered without incident and was booked into South Central Regional Jail without bond. In the 911 call, he expressed being “tired of it” after arguing with her.

Prior Abuse History

Phillips had two prior domestic violence incidents: In December 2021, he allegedly held a gun to Joanna’s head, struck her mouth, and threatened to kill her, but charges were dismissed in March 2022. In March 2025, he faced domestic battery charges after a bar-related assault, with a January 2026 trial pending.

Court Status

His court appearance is set for December 29, 2025; he remains in custody amid the murder charge.
