Mitchell Eddins, 45, has been arrested in connection with the death of 14-year-old Danika Troy, whose burned body was found in a wooded area in Pace, Florida. Eddins reported finding the body to law enforcement on December 3, 2025, but police say he delayed the call by several hours after first discovering the remains around 1 p.m. on December 2.

According to the arrest report, Eddins came across the burned area and a black scooter—believed to belong to Troy—while walking along a trail. He initially took the scooter home before noticing the body and telling others about it, but he did not immediately notify authorities. Police found the scooter in a back room of Eddins’ home.

Eddins faces misdemeanor charges for failure to report a death and petit theft. He is held in Santa Rosa County Jail on $7,500 bail, with a court date set for December 16.

Separately, two teenagers, 16-year-old Gabriel Williams and 14-year-old Kimahri Blevins, have been charged with Troy’s murder. Police say they lured her to the woods, shot her multiple times, and burned her body, reportedly motivated by social media conflicts.

This case involves multiple layers of criminal responsibility, with Eddins charged for his delayed reporting and taking the scooter, while the teenagers face serious charges for the murder itself.
