Stacie Gilmore, 51, from Youngstown, Ohio, was sentenced on December 2, 2025, to three years of probation after a jury convicted her in October 2025 of unlawful restraint, two counts of endangering children, and domestic violence for abusing her 11-year-old son over years using zip ties, electrical cords, and pipes.
Abuse Allegations
The boy was found wandering alone and hungry in a Target store on February 28, 2023, where he told police Gilmore struck him that day, leading to his escape from home; photos showed scars on his eye, arms, chest, and severe marks on his back from May 2023 Children’s Services involvement. Prosecutors described repeated tying and beatings from age 5 (2016) through 2023 as “full-on torture,” beyond discipline.
Trial and Sentencing
Gilmore denied abuse in her testimony, claiming overprotectiveness like restricting school/internet, tying a bedsheet to prevent wandering, and couch sleeping due to broken beds; defense alleged the boy lied for leniency. Acquitted of felony kidnapping (potential 10-year term), she proclaimed “I am not a criminal” and a “beacon to this community” at sentencing, receiving mental health treatment, 55 more jail days (total eight months), no son contact (or face prison), and child removal by services.
