A North Carolina man is facing many charges after police say he set fire to his fiancée for not procuring him a beer.
Patrick Erron Tyson was detained on Friday after officers from the Sylva Police Department arrived at his residence in Sylva, North Carolina. According to a Facebook post, policemen responded to Tyson’s residence at 7:18 a.m. after receiving a complaint regarding a domestic altercation. When they arrived, they located Tyson and an unnamed woman, both of whom claimed to have had a verbal fight that escalated.
According to authorities, the lady stated that Tyson threatened to light her on fire if she “didn’t get him a beer.” When she declined, he allegedly dumped a bottle of rubbing alcohol on her and “ignited the couch.”
According to police, the Sylva Fire Department successfully doused the fire.
According to police, the fire charred the woman’s clothing “off her body,” but she had no burn injuries. Tyson allegedly started the fire, which caused smoke damage and burns to the couch, carpet, and other areas of the house. According to authorities, Tyson “threw an item” at the home’s stove, which “shattered.”
Tyson was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to murder, arson, and two misdemeanors in relation to the event. He was detained and put into the Jackson County Jail, where he is incarcerated on a $750,000 bond. His next court date is scheduled for December 1.
