Bodycam footage showed a father’s heartbreaking reaction after his 11-year-old stepson was shot and died during a road rage incident in Nevada.
Bodycam film obtained by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department shows the grieving father, Valente Ayala, only seconds after his stepson, Brandon Dominguez, was tragically shot while driving to school in Henderson.
“My kid is dead,” he cried, pointing to his car. “My son!”
Officers could also be seen handcuffing the culprit, Tyler Matthew Johns, while he appeared to accept responsibility for the event.
“We were road-raging,” the suspect claimed in the video. “It’s entirely my fault. I shot at him, guy. “I had no idea he had a kid in the car.”
The footage also shows the father lying on his back, with an officer clutching his hand to console him.
According to a press conference held on November 14, the Henderson Police Department stated that the shooting occurred at 7:30 a.m. that day when the two drivers got into a “verbal exchange” as one attempted to pass another on the shoulder.
According to authorities, moments later, the suspect fired a single shot from a revolver into the vehicle, striking the youngster in the back seat. According to authorities, the boy’s stepfather then “rammed” the suspect’s vehicle into the other vehicle.
They both came to a stop in the middle of the expressway before exiting their vehicles and engaging in what police characterized as a “heated exchange.”

After a citizen alerted authorities, the culprit was apprehended and placed at the Henderson Detention Center on a $20,000 bond.
According to court documents, Johns faces one count of open murder with a deadly weapon enhancement and two weapons counts.
Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders and medical professionals at a nearby hospital, the kid died from his injuries.
“Brandon was the light of our family — our happy, loving boy with the biggest heart, the silliest personality, and a joy that filled every room he entered,” Dominguez’s loved ones said on a GoFundMe page set up to benefit his mother, Rubi Chavarria.
“Whether he was laughing, telling stories, or just sitting nearby, Brandon made every time feel special. He had aspirations, hopes, and a future that we couldn’t wait to see him achieve,” the page added.
In a Facebook post, authorities called the occurrence as a “senseless act.”
“Tonight, we’re asking our community to slow down, stay patient, and show restraint behind the wheel,” according to the message. “As the holiday season approaches, we frequently observe an uptick in crashes and unsafe driving habits around the valley – but tragedies like these are preventable. It begins with all of us.
