Charleston, South Carolina — Molina Healthcare of South Carolina will collaborate with the Charleston Hispanic Association, Community Impact Outreach, and the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control to provide food to needy families on Saturday.

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, people experiencing food insecurity feel more pressure to put food on the table. According to Molina, 51,000 people in Charleston County are food insecure.

Organizations in the Charleston region are working to alleviate that load by donating 500 turkeys and more than 10 tons of food to those in need.

The food handout will take place on November 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Community Impact Outreach, located at 2429 Midland Park Road in Charleston.

In addition to handing away food, other groups will be present and on-site to share critical information about community services.
