A 10-month-old girl has been located after being allegedly kidnapped by a family member and their significant other in North Carolina.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) had previously issued an Amber alert for Nalaya Crew, who was abducted around 7 p.m. local time in Charlotte on Saturday, Nov. 15.
On Sunday, Nov. 16, authorities reported that the kid was “located unharmed and has been reunited with her mother.”
According to authorities, crew was reportedly taken by relative Michelle Hemphill, 19, and her boyfriend Timothy Lee Smith Jr., 23. Both suspects have already been taken into custody.
According to the CMPD, Crew’s family previously feared she was “in danger” with Hemphill, who “is currently homeless and has no means to provide for the child.”
Prior to the arrests, police claimed Hemphill was last seen entering a blue minivan driven by Smith around the 6600 block of Monroe Road in the region.
Authorities are requesting anyone with information about the case to phone 911 or the CMPD at 704-336-7600.
