A New York teenager has been arrested and charged with the murder of another teenage guy who died after being stabbed at a house party.
On Monday, the Suffolk County Police Department stated that they had detained a 17-year-old teenager in connection with the stabbing death of Liam Delemo, who was 15 years old. The suspect, who was not identified by police due to his age, was charged as a juvenile with second-degree murder. The alleged event occurred on November 3 at a home in West Babylon, New York, where another adolescent hosted a party for 90 to 100 people, according to authorities.
According to police, a dispute broke out at 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 3 and ended with the suspect reportedly stabbing Delemo. The guy was transported to a neighboring hospital and died from his injuries. According to local NBC affiliate WNBC, Delemo died during surgery and was only a few weeks away from turning 16.
According to News 12 Long Island, West Babylon High School, where Delemo was a student, had a delayed opening a few days after his death. Students were receiving support services following the tragedy.
The suspect, who lives in Syosset, Nassau County, was expected to appear in Suffolk County’s First District Court on Monday.
In addition to the 17-year-old suspect, the homeowner faces her own charges in connection with the fatal stabbing. Bonnie Miranda, 70, the grandmother of the girl who organized the party, was charged with allegedly violating Suffolk County’s Social Host Law and endangering the welfare of a child.
