A South Carolina man was killed when his automobile flipped over in a crash, according to police

The South Carolina Highway Patrol reported that a man was killed in an early morning crash on Sunday.

Master Trooper Hannah Davidson said that the single-vehicle crash occurred around 2:40 a.m. in Spartanburg County.

According to Davidson, a 2009 Lexus car was going south on South Carolina 101. The Lexus raced off the left side of S.C. 101 at the Old Woodruff Road intersection, colliding with a ditch and flipping over, according to Davidson.

According to Davidson, the driver was the only one in the Lexus and died at the site.

The motorist who died was identified as 42-year-old Duncan resident Le’moriell Williams by the Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office, according to WHNS.

No other injuries were reported.

There was no indication on whether Williams was wearing a seat belt.

The cause of the Lexus veering off the road was unknown, but the Highway Patrol is still investigating the collision.

An autopsy will be performed on Monday, according to the coroner’s office.

According to the state Department of Public Safety, at least 687 people have died on South Carolina roads in 2025 as of October 4. According to the South Carolina Department of Public Safety, at least 948 persons were killed in collisions last year.

DPS data show that at least 65 individuals died in Spartanburg County collisions in 2025. DPS reported 60 deaths in the county in 2024.
