Goose Creek Public Transport Changes Effective Next Week

Starting next week, public transportation changes affecting Goose Creek, SC will largely align with the regional adjustments implemented by KRT (Kanawha Regional Transit), effective October 13, 2025. The key update is the expansion of the flexible on-demand ride service called KRTplus into new zones, including Southridge and South Charleston, as well as expanded coverage in East Charleston.

What to Expect for Goose Creek Riders

Traditional fixed-route bus service on some routes (such as Route 13 Beech Avenue and Route 15 South Hills) will be replaced by KRTplus on-demand ride zones to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.

KRTplus allows riders to book real-time trips via the KRTplus mobile app, Transit app, or phone.

Passengers transferring from KRTplus to fixed-route buses within one hour, and paying through the app or KRT Blue Card, will enjoy free transfers.

These changes aim to improve overall service accessibility across the region while focusing fixed routes on high-demand corridors.

Infrastructure and Roadwork Updates

Improvements are underway on Red Bank Road including intersection upgrades at Henry E. Brown Jr. Boulevard with concrete medians, sidewalk construction, pedestrian enhancements, resurfacing, and upgraded traffic signals.

Signal and traffic enhancements will also be implemented along Eagle Road, Harbor Lake Drive, and Bayshore Drive in fall 2025.

These projects support safer, smoother travel for both transit riders and drivers in the Goose Creek area.

Passengers are encouraged to download the KRTplus and Transit apps and consult the KRT website or customer service for updated route maps, schedules, and booking procedures.
