A shooting investigation is underway in Augusta, and the victim was allegedly hit many times.

AUGUSTA, Georgia – The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to a shooting just off Broad Street on Friday morning.

The event occurred at Curry and Brown Street, behind Family Dollar.

According to investigators, Larry Meminger, 39, was shot several times. After being shot, Meminger reportedly went to Aikens Tires and dialled 911. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the incident occurred following an argument, with over 20 rounds fired.

Just before 1 p.m., deputies discovered the suspect’s vehicle, a white Chevy Tahoe. After attempting to stop, the suspect fled, leading investigators on a pursuit. The suspect then struck another vehicle at 2nd and Watkins Streets and fled on foot before being captured by investigators.

The driver of the second vehicle was sent to the hospital for minor injuries.

The suspect’s name has yet to be disclosed.
