A 41-year-old man was arrested in Marion County after a break-in call led to a swift response by deputies and the recovery of a stolen vehicle.
Incident Details
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a prowler in the Hunters Creek subdivision at 1:50 p.m. on Friday. A homeowner had captured video footage of a suspicious individual on their security camera system. Deputies arrived at the scene but did not find the suspect, though they were provided with a description of the man and his car.
Arrest and Charges
Authorities later identified Christopher Brandon Tyler as the suspect. Tyler, of unknown residence, faces charges including possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of burglary tools, and housebreaking.
Shortly after the initial call, deputies noticed an open door at a nearby home. They then received a tip about a man matching Tyler’s description in the area of Cole Road, knocking on doors. A traffic stop was conducted after locating Tyler’s car, which led to the discovery of the stolen vehicle from Dillon and his subsequent arrest.
Importance of Vigilance
“We cannot stress enough the importance of homeowners maintaining working camera systems and neighbors remaining vigilant,” said the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. “In this case, the suspect was arrested within an hour of the initial call thanks to clear camera footage and alert residents who took the initiative to contact 911.”
Tyler is currently being held at the Marion County Detention Center as authorities continue their investigation.
