SOUTH CAROLINA— A guy from Darlington County has been detained in connection with a carjacking that occurred in Florence on Monday, according to police.
According to the Florence Police Department, Antoine Laurell Lawrence, 30, was charged with carjacking and aggravated breach of peace after the incident in the 500 block of W. Palmetto Street.
According to investigators, Lawrence approached the victim while gripping his waist in a way that led the victim to believe he was armed. He then snatched the victim’s keys, got in a work van, and drove away.
Lawrence was eventually apprehended and lodged into the Florence County Detention Center. According to records, he received a $5,000 surety bail for the aggravated breach of peace allegation.
“The Florence Police Department remains committed to keeping our community safe and holding offenders accountable,” according to a press release.
